Devonport Golf Club
November 2007 - Landscaping and Brickwork Skills Develop Sports Venue
A group of Business & Employment Work for the Dole participants is making significant improvements to the spectator facilities at the Delta Hydraulics Devonport Golf Club, the home of the Tasmanian Open.
Working under the direction of Youth and Family Focus supervisor, Mr Nick Bird, this group of jobseekers is developing work skills related to the landscaping and building industry during the construction of a terraced patio behind the first tee.
During the Tasmanian Open, this area is sure to be a popular venue for local sports enthusiasts to witness the ‘hitting power’ of some of the best golfers in the nation.
It is anticipated that this high profile activity will allow the jobseekers to develop their networks with the Devonport business community thereby improving their opportunities to gain future employment.
April 2008 - Patio
The Business & Employment Work for the Dole participants have improved the facilities for guests and members at the Club and the new patio area is due to be completed in the very near future.
The participants have gained great building skills with paving, concrete form work and metal fabrication all required to create this new facility.
The team will now move into the roofing phase and upon completion will no doubt feel justifiably proud of their achievements.

May 2008 - Patio Completed
The installation of the roof on the patio at the Devonport Golf Club brings this project to completion.
The Devonport Golf Club now has a fully weather proof outdoor area.
The CEO of Youth and Family Focus, Ros Wilkinson, cut the ribbon and presented this new facility to the President and Board of Management.
