Coffee Time at Eliza Purton Aged Care Home

The Work for the Dole Community Solutions team have added to the amenities provided to the aged residents at the Eliza Purton Aged Care Home in Ulverstone by the construction of a coffee kitchen and external deck area.

The team worked alongside two members of the West Ulverstone Rotary, Mr Jim Baade and Mr Graham Malone, to fit the kitchenette, remove the window and fit the sliding door leading to a new deck overlooking a previously disused bird aviary.

The residents can now enjoy a ‘coffee on the deck’ as they observe the new birds and gain a vital daily dose of Tasmanian sunshine thanks to the Work for the Dole efforts.

The team gained a great sense of achievement with the State Manager for Community Solutions, Mr Ian Fawkner stating, “Our Jobseekers enjoyed building this facility on behalf of the residents. They all gained skills in design, construction and building techniques along with a great sense of pride through this community activity.”

A formal function with our local member, Mr Sid Sidebottom MP, is scheduled to initiate and hand over to management this new feature within the home.
