Stewart Street Childcare Centre
A new Work for the Dole activity has started in Launceston with the aim of creating improved facilities within the Stewart Street Childcare Centre that will increase the children’s access and play areas.
Work has begun in preparing the site to allow the construction of a landscaped tricycle pathway over what is presently an un-utilised area of grassland not accessible to the children.
Participants have been busy operating ‘dingoes’ to move the spoil created as an excavator created a main drainage trench. Work is set to advance as the concrete cycle way is created wandering through an area of landscaped ‘hills’ all within the safety and security of the Stewart Street Centre.

October 2007 - Nearing Completion
The work being done by the Business & Employment Work for the Dole participants at the Stewart Street Childcare Centre playground is rapidly producing a vital area for the children to safely develop their play and social skills.
The Work for the Dole participants involved within this activity are justifiably proud of their achievements and are very keen to ‘complete the job’! With the cycle track in place, a sand pit area has been added along with a ‘pirates ship’ that is nearing completion.
It is anticipated that a public launch will be conducted during December to showcase the skills and employability of the participants to the wider Launceston community.

March 2008 - Thumbs up from the kids!
The Business & Employment Work for the Dole Team has just completed their work creating a safe and interesting playground facility for the children attending the Stewart Street Childcare Centre in Launceston.
A once water sodden and unfriendly section of the grounds has been transformed by the Business & Employment Work for the Dole participants into a children’s wonderland where the only limiting factor is imagination.
The jobseekers feel justifiably proud at their creation as they completed the landscape design, timber fabrications and basic ‘hard work’ that was required to complete the project. If the exuberance and energy levels of the children are any indication they have given the work team a big ‘thumbs up’ for providing their new play area.
